NECKLACE MADE WITH TUTORIAL BY STEPHANIE SERSICH |
My only experience with waxed linen up to this point had been a few simple knotted bracelets strung on waxed linen and a necklace that I made 7 or 8 years ago following a tutorial written by Stephanie Sersich found in a beading magazine. With a little help from my son I got some basic macrame knots down.
This first piece is the Stephanie Sersich piece that I had totally forgotten about until I started taking pics for this blog hop. I've always admired earrings with the waxed linen fringe and I made two pairs for this hop. Next I had some sea glass that I thought would be perfect for a summer necklace with waxed linen in various shade of blues and beige (reminds me of sand and sea). I'm still undecided on the focal for this piece but I had a large piece of undrilled sea glass that I stumbled upon while looking for the drilled sea glass. Well that in itself created a challenge because I had no idea how I was going to turn this into a focal. I pulled out some silver wire that I had, found a You Tube video and gave wire wrapping a go. On the plus side this piece is long enough that it can double as a wrap bracelet as well.
The last piece was a last minute piece using a tutorial I found online. I'm not sure that the weigh of my waxed linen was sufficient for this piece as I don't feel like I got enough weight in my knots but for my first try I'm happy (and since ripping out knots in this waxed linen is next to impossible).

your pieces are gorgeous (as always) my friend! that first one is a real show stopper! substantial, bold and perfect for summer. That beachy one is the one you were showing us ... love it! and that large wire-wrapped glass focal is perfect! don't change a thing! I am in love with making earrings this way ... and you've got a couple of pairs of perfectly boho.
ReplyDeleteWow! You have some very pretty pieces here. I especially love the coral and blue combination in the last bracelet.
ReplyDeleteAll your pieces are so nice, I especially like the "beachy" earrings with the looooong fringe. Great look!
ReplyDeleteI love all of them, but my favorite is the last bracelet. Gorgeous! And fun. Perfect for summer.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all the earrings using the linen threads, too. Your bracelet turned out lovely - great color combo!
ReplyDeleteWhat great designs! I am so in love with your first pair of earrings.
ReplyDeleteAll lovely designs lInda ad such fun...your first necklace is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYou've done great with everything! I'm amazed how great everyone in the hop is with waxed linen even if they've never used it or used it only a few times. All your pieces are great. My favorite (other than your first necklace) is the sea and sand earrings. Such a wonderful color combo. I am starting to wonder if my knotting isn't tight enough. Others all seem to think it's not possible to unknot waxed linen, but I can usually do it. I'll have to look at that with my next piece.
ReplyDeleteWonderful job on all the pieces but I looooooooove that necklace! That is going to be a fun piece to wear during the summer! Thanks for participating!
ReplyDeleteReally nice pieces! I especially like what you did with the earrings and mixing the linen colors in that second pair.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda. The first necklace is Awesome!!. Kudos for joining in and giving something new a try. You made great color choices in both of your earring pairs. The braided cording works well with the sea glass and you did a great job of wire wrapping. The turquoise faceted beads look good with the coral accents.
ReplyDeleteAll wonderful pieces! I really love the second pair of earrings...some of my favorite colors combined...and my longing for a trip the beach! :)
ReplyDeleteLoved the sea glass one and the last flower bracelet
ReplyDeleteWow Linda, you did so much work, I love all your pieces but I truly love that bracelet it's just gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI like all of your pieces, and the fringe hanging down from the earrings. I tried to do my piece using Stephanie Serich's instructions from a class but made a full knot after each bead instead of a half knot so didn't get the spiral effect. Your necklace is just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteYour pieces are gorgeous! I love how playful they all are and great for summer. My favorite if the daisy bracelet it is so pretty and my style.
Therese
just gorgeous, I am inspired by what can be created using waxed linen and macrame. The colors are so vibrant in the necklace, and the wire wrapped piece are tops. Don't think I didn't notice the earrings. I like them too,
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in all of your pieces. They are perfect for the summer. I am wondering if braided the thread in the sea glass necklace.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I always admire your leather designs and these waxed linen pieces are no different. I particularly love the the earrings and the macrame bracelet. Maybe we will see you combining your leather with the waxed linen, hmm? I hope so! ;)
ReplyDeleteLove all the color and fun in your first necklace. The sand and sea earrings are my favs. I like the fringe on them. And your bracelet is very pretty. I really like the color of the linen you used with the beads.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pieces, Linda. I am so inspired by everything you and everyone else created.I just ordered some waxed irish linen.....can't wait to start playing with it!
ReplyDeleteSeeing all these earrings everyone made makes me really wish I had done some myself! I really love the colors on your last piece. The coral thread with the turquoise beads is such a pretty color combo!
ReplyDeleteThat first necklace you shared...beautiful design very well executed! I think even if I have a technique down, my knots are mostly uneven. Your's look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe earrings are both perfect!
The bracelet looks fine too...maybe you needed tighter knots? Is that what you meant?
I just love everything you made here! I am an earring girl and I would wear each of these proudly. I love the glass beads in your first necklace, so much great color there! You should make more designs with waxed linen, your a natural
ReplyDeleteThe first necklace is a statement piece in summer fun & beauty! My favorite is the wonderful "daisy" chain macrame waxed linen bracelet! It's brilliant! A weave I've seen only in seed beads; you took it to another level entirely & it's stunning! And gorgeous, gorgeous earrings. I'm studying your work to learn those cool "threads" -- you created fabulous jewelry! Bravo! Happy Hopping! ♥ Rita
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with the waxed linen, especially the earrings. Have to say my fave is that wonderful bracelet! Great job!!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely pieces Linda, I love the earrings and, well, everything really!!
