This is my first challenge and even though I have been making jewelry for quite a few years working with someone else's preselected beads and components was different for me. My first step was to look at what came in the kit and categorize the beads. Since there were several different shades of blue in the kit I decided to use these in different pieces. I preferred to use the icy blue and snowy white beads with silver in the necklace.
I wanted to use the pendant and connector beads in the same piece but the asymmetrical design of my necklace did not allow me to do this. I decided to make a separate pair of earrings to compliment the necklace instead. Using the pendant without a bail was a little tricky for me since I usually use headpins when I do my wire wrapping for earrings or charms. I utilized the internet and found a quickie tutorial on how to wire wrap a pendant at Marsha Neal's blog. I was so happy with the result and the fact that I was able to learn something new in the process.
Another challenge for me was the ring that was included in the kit. I decided to use it as a clasp for the bracelet and wire wrap some of the beads inside to utilize the remaining blue beads. Check out what I came up with and then go to the other blogs to see how they turned the same ingredients into totally different pieces.
Wow, so many lovely designs from one challenge. I especially adore that chunky bracelet!
